A mid-Victorian jug titled 'Bacchanalian Dance' by Charles Meigh, Old Hall Works, Hanley, Staffordshire, Circa 1844. Marked to the base with a royal coat-of-arms, 'September 30, 1844, registered No. 21960 Charles Meigh' applied and impressed.

 

The decoration on this piece is taken from Bacchanalian Revel before a Herm of Pan by Nicholas Poussin, with the reverse showing a scene taken from Drunken Silenus by Peter Paul Rubens

 

The overall condition is very good with no chips or cracks evident.
