An exceptional example of a late Georgian/Regency period rosewood D-end fold-over card table.
This wonderful table features a stunning veneered top with a triple-depth crossbanding of mahogany, rosewood and satinwood with a central section of perfectly selected rosewood veneer.
The folding top opens out to reveal a baize card-playing surface, which is completed with a rosewood veneer surround, edged with a beautifully delicate inlay. Below this, the frieze has a rosewood veneered frontage with inlaid decoration on both ends and the front face.
Elegantly turned tapering legs, terminating in brass hairy paw feet, complete this stunning piece of early 19th-century design.
The overall condition is excellent with a beautiful deep lustre to the finish. The baize playing surface has some signs of wear, with a couple of small holes starting to appear, but we have not replaced this in order to retain the wonderful originality of this truly exceptional table.
